Whether you are an International Affairs and History (IAH) major or not, the history of diplomacy remains a fascinating subject: historical protagonists always interacting to produce unexpected results.

With the benefit of hindsight, one can sit objectively and wag one's finger rather sanctimoniously at some of the desperado measures/tactics such leaders employed.

Casting aspersions and judging them for their actions is neither here nor there. However, what is clear is that whatever these leaders -- Metternich, Castlereagh, Bismarck, Napoleon III, etc -- were thinking whilst securing their place in history will, for a long time to come, remain in the preserve of the unknown. Bottom line? There is none, except that this is an extremely interesting and insightful subject of study, and consequently, I hope that you can consolidate what you already know with what is here on this site. And, oh, fasten your seatbelt amd prepare yourself for a trip down nineteenth-century diplomacy!
